Summary

The TEMT6000 is a silicon NPN epitaxial planar phototransistor ambient light sensor in a miniature transparent mold for surface mounting onto a printed circuit board, sensitive to the visible spectrum, with features including adaptation to human eye responsivity, wide angle of half sensitivity, and suitability for IR reflow soldering. It has a collector-emitter breakdown voltage of 6V, collector dark current of 3-50nA, and collector light current of 3.5-16µA at 20lx. The device has a wavelength of peak sensitivity at 570nm and an angle of half sensitivity of ±60°. It is suitable for applications such as display backlight dimming in mobile phones, notebook computers, and cameras. The sensor has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C and a storage temperature range of -40 to +85°C. Reflow solder profiles are provided, and the device is lead-free and compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
