The new member will need to sign up for membership by signing an application and paying a $20.00 application fee. A deposit on the account will also be required, with a credit check performed to determine the deposit amount, which will be either $0 or $500.00. If temporary service is needed, a $250.00 deposit for the temporary assembly will be required, which will be refunded when the permanent service is installed.

The member will need to obtain any easements necessary for the extension and project, which Monroe County Electric will draw up, but the member is responsible for negotiating with the property owner.

The member will need to install the necessary meter socket, wiring, and breaker panel for service, and Monroe County Electric has meter sockets available at no charge at their office. The governing county or city must make the service inspection, with contact information for each county and city provided.

The member will need to contact Monroe County Electric Co-Operative, Inc. engineer for inspection and staking of service, including knowing if any lines will have to be crossed for underground installations. If the installation is in the Harrisonville Telephone Company service area, the member will need to contact them and request service, and Monroe County Electric will coordinate with them.

The member will receive a billing for any fees, which will be calculated when the design and staking of the extension is complete, and must be paid prior to installations. After receipt of payment, the project will be put on the schedule.
