Summary

Carl Kennedy, director of JL Audio's Home and Professional Sales division, offered to review the Fathom f113 subwoofer, which features a 13.5" cone, huge magnet assembly, and built-in Automatic Room Optimization (ARO) function. The subwoofer has a variable low-pass filter, high-pass filter, and controls for level, phase, and polarity. It also includes an optical interface to prevent hum and a ground-lift switch to eliminate system hum pickup. The ARO function automatically adjusts the sub's output to optimize room response, and the subwoofer can be used in pairs to further improve room response. The Fathom f113 has a frequency response of -3dB at 20Hz and -6dB at 130Hz, and a maximum peak SPL output of 120dB at 50Hz. It weighs 130 lbs and is available in high-gloss black or satin black finishes for $3400.
