Summary

Harry Max Speight, BPR #007455, was disbarred by the Tennessee Supreme Court on August 14, 2008, for violations of Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15 and 8.4(a), (b), (c), (d). The Hearing Committee found that Speight pled guilty to federal conspiracy to make false statements and defraud the government (15 USC §714M(a), (d) and 18 USC §2) on September 9, 2010, with the offense ending January 30, 2006. As of January 30, 2006, Speight remained licensed in Tennessee and subject to the Board's jurisdiction. The Committee concluded the Board has jurisdiction over Speight for the current matter because the offense occurred while he was still licensed. Speight's conduct constitutes a separate violation of Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 8.4(b), (c), and (d): (b) a criminal act reflecting adversely on honesty/trustworthiness/fitness; (c) conduct involving dishonesty/fraud/deceit; and (d) conduct prejudicial to justice. The 2008 disbarment addressed different misconduct, and the current violation has not been subject to final discipline.
