Summary

Histopaque-1119 is a sterile solution of polysucrose and sodium diatrizoate, used for the rapid recovery of viable mononuclear cells and granulocytes from whole blood. It has a density of 1.119 g/mL and is used in conjunction with Histopaque-1077. The solution is stored at 2-8 °C and has an expiration period of 3 years. To use, layer Histopaque-1077 over Histopaque-1119, then add anticoagulated whole blood, and centrifuge at 700 × g for 30 minutes. This separates erythrocytes, granulocytes, and mononuclear cells into distinct layers, which can then be aspirated and washed for further analysis.
