National Riding Youth Exchange House Outdoor Cooking:
Enjoy handmade cooking in the great outdoors surrounded by white birch trees.
Even if the dishes are not perfect, the fact that everyone worked together to make them adds a special spice of friendship.
This outdoor cooking program is charming because it requires the cooperation of all participants to complete.
From starting the fire to preparing vegetables and cleaning up, each person has a role to play, which helps to deepen friendships and discover new things about each other.

1. Menu and ingredients:
The exchange house cafeteria handles food and ingredients.
Payment should be made to the cafeteria.
A representative must be present to receive the ingredients and cooking utensils.
The menu includes curry rice, paella, yakisoba, and iron plate barbecue.
Ingredients are provided in sets for each group.
Please notify the menu and group composition at least 7 days in advance.

2. Activity location and group composition:
For groups of 180 people or less, the activity will be held at the exchange house cooking area with groups of 5-6 people.
For groups of more than 180 people, the activity will be held at the Takayama Campground with groups of 10-12 people.

3. Activity time:
The outdoor cooking activity includes a 30-minute explanation, 1.5 hours of cooking, 1 hour of eating, and 2-3 hours of cleaning, totaling around 5-6 hours.

4. Cooking utensils:
The exchange house provides cooking utensil sets, including pots, lids, and utensils.
The Takayama Campground also provides cooking utensil sets, but there is a usage fee of 1,250 yen.

5. Precautions:
Before starting, please receive an orientation from the staff.
Wash your hands before cooking.
Keep ingredients refrigerated and cook them promptly.
Make sure to heat food thoroughly, especially raw ingredients.
Handle meat safely and avoid touching it directly.
Be careful when using axes to split firewood.

6. Food sampling:
After cooking, please put a small portion of the food in a vinyl bag and label it with the group name, date, and class name.
Store the vinyl bags in the freezer for food sampling.
