The Gaza Strip faces a significant energy deficit, with! a permanent shortfall of 143 MW, leading to 8-12 hours of scheduled power outages daily. Biomass energy, particularly from municipal solid waste (MSW), can contribute to sustainable energy development. The study assesses the potential of waste-to-energy facilities to meet Gaza's peak power demand up to 2040, considering three scenarios: incineration, anaerobic digestion, and landfill gas recovery. The results show a potential to produce 1100 MWh/day (anaerobic digestion), 580 MWh/day (incineration), and 130 MWh/day (landfill gas recovery), accounting for 275%, 145%, and 33% of the 2014 peak electricity demand, respectively. The production costs are estimated at 7¢/kWh (incineration), 5¢/kWh (anaerobic digestion), and 17¢/kWh (landfill gas recovery).
