Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRF) monitor multiple parameters, including orthophosphates, to optimize treatment process efficiencies. Orthophosphates are critical to measure as excessive phosphorus can cause undesirable events in streams, such as algae blooms and low dissolved oxygen. The YSI P 700 IQ Orthophosphate Analyzer helps measure orthophosphate levels, enabling fine-tuning of chemical dosing for phosphate removal, which provides cost savings and protects the aquatic environment. To achieve low effluent total phosphorus, facilities can follow six steps: benchtop jar testing, determining chemical dosage, determining chemical storage requirements, locating measurement and chemical feed systems, installing and commissioning the measurement system, and tuning the control system.
