Summary

Network-based bioinformatics analysis of spatio-temporal RNAseq data reveals transcriptional programs underpinning normal and aberrant retinal development. A bioinformatics pipeline was developed to analyze RNAseq data, categorizing genes based on differential expression and alternative splicing status. The pipeline was applied to two retinal RNA-Seq datasets, capturing high-resolution transcription kinetics and identifying co-transcriptionally regulated genes. Downstream analysis using DAVID and GeneMania identified biological processes and predicted potential phenotypes from gene expression changes. The approach can be extended to other tissues and disease pathogenesis, leveraging molecular signatures to predict phenotypes long before they manifest.
