Summary

Countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia face severe air pollution problems due to rapid urbanization and industrialization, with most countries lacking adequate air quality management infrastructure and technical capabilities. A workshop on air quality management was held for 17 countries in these regions, revealing that most countries have insufficient ambient air quality monitoring stations, and only a few have started developing emissions inventories and air quality modeling. All countries have enacted air pollution mitigation regulations, but these lack scientific evidence based on local data. The findings highlight the need for countries to invest in strengthening air quality management components, including mobilizing financial resources from international agencies.
