AKARI/IRC All-Sky Survey Catalogue.pdf

The AKARI/IRC Point Source Catalogue Version 1.0 provides positions and fluxes of 870,973 sources in the Mid-Infrared wavelengths. The catalogue is based on the AKARI Infrared Camera All-Sky Survey, which was conducted in two channels: MIR-S and MIR-L. The survey used two photometric bands: S9W (6.7 – 11.6 µm) with an effective wavelength at 9 µm and L18W (13.9 – 25.6 µm) with an effective wavelength at 18 µm.

The data processing involved extracting the IRC All Sky Survey data from packets and reformating it into FITS image format data. Instrumental anomaly effects were removed, and image strips were generated with a field of view of 10’ × 40’. Point-like sources were extracted using the source extractor (SExtractor), and a region with connected pixels above 3 sigma threshold was considered a candidate.

The catalogue generation involved combining the two frames into one frame with one sixth virtual pixel size. The catalogue contains 844,649 sources in the 9µm band and 194,551 sources in the 18µm band. The catalogue is regarded as the primary catalogue from the AKARI IRC survey and is supposed to have a uniform detection limit over the entire sky.

The performance of the catalogue includes the number of sources, which is 870,973. The catalogue also includes extended sources, with 17,111 sources detected in the 9µm band and 4,511 sources detected in the 18µm band. The accuracy of coordinates is 0.1 arcseconds, and the flux accuracy is 10% in the 9µm band and 20% in the 18µm band. The sky coverage is 96% in the 9µm band and 97% in the 18µm band. The catalogue is complete to a flux limit of 100 mJy in the 9µm band and 200 mJy in the 18µm band.
