Microsoft-CEO Satya Nadella präsentierte im Februar die neue KI-gestützte Version der Suchmaschine Bing und beschwor ein großes Bedrohungsszenario herauf, um dann zu verkünden, dass die technische Lösung der Probleme greifbar nahe sei. Die Grünen und die Klimabewegung haben diese Vision übernommen und sehen den Einsatz von Künstlicher Intelligenz als Chance im Kampf gegen die Klimakrise. Die Hoffnung auf technische Lösungen reicht zurück bis in die 60er Jahre und knüpft an die Utopien der Alternativbewegung an. Die Initiative, einen informationstechnologischen Vorstoß in die Weiterentwicklung des Kapitalismus einzubringen, wird als solutionistischer Ansatz gesehen, der die sozialen Probleme in technische Ersatzprobleme übersetzt. Technokratinnen und Solutionisten sehen in der politischen Unfähigkeit, einen klimagerechten Richtungswechsel einzuleiten, die Bestätigung dafür, dass der Mensch nicht in der Lage sei, rationale Entscheidungen im Sinne eines globalen Gemeinwohls zu treffen, und sehen in der Künstlichen Intelligenz eine Lösung.
