Das Mini-Plus-System basiert auf einer sich selbst tragenden Versorgung mit Bienen, Brut und Futterreserven für die Begattung von Königinnen, im Gegensatz zu Begattungskästchen, die jedes Jahr gereinigt und neu gefüllt werden müssen. Es ermöglicht die Bildung von Ablegern mit eigenem Boden und Deckel, die auf einen entfernten Standort zur Begattung verbracht werden. Die Völkchen bieten ganzjährig eine sichere Reserve an Königinnen in überwinterbaren Einheiten. Die Anleitung umfasst die Schritte: Aufteilung der Völkchen im Mai, Verteilung auf Ablegerkästchen, Ausstattung der Ableger mit Brutwäbchen, Honigwäbchen und Mittelwänden sowie Platzierung auf Vierergestellen mit einer schlupfreifen Weiselzelle.
