The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Secretariat seeks expressions of interest from relevant institutions/organizations to host Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI) training courses in developing countries in 2018. These courses will focus on DNA technologies, particularly DNA barcoding for rapid species identification at national, sub-regional, or regional levels.

Eligibility and Requirements:

- Developing countries and countries with economies in transition are eligible to apply.
- Proposals should be prepared by trained trainers who completed GTI Training Courses in 2015-2016 or by relevant DNA barcoding networks in the region (see attached list).
- Applications must include an application form, a letter of endorsement from the primary national CBD Focal Point, and a letter of endorsement from the host institute (and donors, if applicable), all submitted via email or fax to [email protected] or +1 514 288 6588 by 30 November 2017.

Review Process:

All proposals will be reviewed by the CBD Secretariat in consultation with the GTI Coordination Mechanism.

Training Course Details:

- The training courses are designed to support decision-making and conservation efforts related to biodiversity.
- Topics include application of DNA technologies for rapid species identification.
- Successful proposals will be hosted by relevant institutions/organizations in developing countries.
