Three studies tested the chemical resistance of different flooring products, including ceramic, plastic-based resilient, laminates, wood, carpet, and natural stone. The tests simulated real situations, such as conventional cleaning, accidental spills, and prolonged contact with cleaning products.

The ITC study found that:
- Ceramic tiles have high resistance to chemical agents, with only slight damage from strong basic products.
- Resilient PVC floorings behave differently depending on surface coating composition, with some samples showing high surface deterioration from acetone and other chemicals.
- Laminates have good chemical resistance, except for hydrochloric acid.
- Wood shows surface alterations with many chemical agents.
- Carpet's chemical resistance depends on its composition, with polypropylene and natural wool carpets performing well.
- Natural stone is the least resistant to chemical detergents, with significant superficial alterations from acids and other chemicals.

The Centro Ceramico study focused on two LVT products and found that one sample was damaged by alkaline potassium hydroxide solution, indicating poor resistance to alkaline cleaners. Olive oil and chrome green stains were removed using mild soap and a soft sponge.

Overall, ceramic materials are resistant to chemical agents and represent a hygienic solution for keeping environments healthy. Other materials, such as wood and natural stone, are more susceptible to damage from chemical cleaning products.
