Summary

A corrigendum to the paper "Composition and mixing state of atmospheric aerosols determined by electron microscopy: method development and application to aged Saharan dust deposition in the Caribbean boundary layer" (Kandler et al., 2018) corrects an incorrect version of Fig. 9, which was based on particle data partly uncorrected for particle shape. The corrected version of Fig. 9 shows that the FWI and DSDS size distributions agree rather well, contrary to the previously published version. This correction affects the discussion in Sect. 3.2.1 and the conclusion in Sect. 4, which are no longer valid. The corrected data confirm the suitability of the Piskunov model as an estimator for atmospheric dust concentrations and highlight the importance of size distribution measurements when comparing different techniques.
