Summary

Researchers observed a galaxy pair, SDSSJ110429.61+233150.3, in the CSc-1 field, a potential cosmic string candidate, and found a significant correlation between the spectra of the two components, indicating possible gravitational lensing. Simulations suggest the observed angle between the components can be explained by a strongly inclined and bent cosmic string. Preliminary data also detected a sharp isophotal edge, which, along with CMB and spectral data, strongly suggests the possibility of a cosmic string detection.
