Summary

Dogs with cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) deficiency underwent surgery using a synthetic ligament (STIF-VETLIG GLOBAL) from 2012 to 2021. 107 cases were studied, with 101 dogs and 107 CCL ruptures. The surgical technique involved a medial arthrotomy, resection of the infra-patellar fat pad, and insertion of the synthetic ligament. Results showed that the anterior drawer was absent in 87.8% of cases, and the mechanical result was excellent or good in 95.2% of cases. 97% of cases showed improvement in the anterior drawer, with only 3 failures (2.8%). Owners reported excellent simplicity of the post-operative period, with dogs recovering autonomy immediately and not needing special attention after wound healing. 94.5% of owners were totally satisfied with the outcome, with dogs fully recovering within 2 months.
