Summary

Precise synchronization between an RF signal and a laser pulse is essential for pump-and-prove experiments using photocathode RF guns, requiring RF and laser synchronization control to achieve timing jitter less than 100 fs. An amplitude-stabilized RF signal generator driven by laser pulses was developed, utilizing a laser oscillator synchronized with a 2856 MHz reference oscillator at 89.25 MHz using a PLL technique. A laser-driven RF regeneration system was also developed, which detects 89.25 MHz laser pulses, filters the pulse signal, and regenerates a 2856 MHz RF signal. The system includes a limiter amplifier and a comb generator to reduce RF variation caused by laser power fluctuation. The output power variation of the amplitude-stabilized RF generator was kept within 1.5%, and the short-term amplitude stability was decreased to 0.20% (RMS). The short-term jitter was about 160 fs, showing an advantage in timing synchronization compared to the unstabilized generator.
