Summary

Qiu's 1998 PhD thesis explores photonic integration in InGaAs/InGaAsP multiple-quantum well laser structures using quantum well intermixing. The research measures damage introduced during CH4/H2 reactive ion etching, develops a reduced damage RIE process, and demonstrates quantum well intermixing using laser irradiation and plasma processes.
