Summary

GST activity was determined in different subcellular fractions of laboratory-reared and field-collected fifth instar larvae of Papilio demoleus. Field-collected larvae showed higher GST activity than laboratory-reared larvae in all subcellular fractions and crude homogenate. The cytosolic fraction had the highest GST activity, with a 6.71-fold increase in field-collected larvae compared to laboratory-reared larvae. The results suggest that the primary location of GST is in the cytoplasm and that increased GST activity in field-collected larvae may be related to their resistance to insecticides.
