Summary

A diagnostic and molecular study of Entamoeba dispar was conducted in Nineveh Province, Iraq, from October 2021 to April 2022, examining 96 stool samples from patients with intestinal disorders. The study used microscopic and molecular diagnostic methods, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, to detect Entamoeba histolytica and Entamoeba dispar. The results showed an infection rate of 33.3% with 32 samples diagnosed microscopically, and 38% with PCR technology. Entamoeba histolytica had the highest infection rate at 52.63%, followed by Entamoeba dispar at 47.36%. The Gene sequencer for Entamoeba dispar was performed and registered in the National Center for Genetic Information.
