Summary

Student housing in Slagelse was renovated with a cross-disciplinary collaboration between architects, PV providers, and manufacturers. The renovation included covering the existing façade with a dark surface made of natural slate and BIPV modules, and installing 150 m2 of photovoltaic modules on the façade and 40 m2 of semi-transparent modules on balconies. The project received funding from Landsbyggefonden and aimed to transform a former school building into 144 modern student housing units with improved energy efficiency. The BIPV system has a power of 20 kWp and an area of 190 m2, with modules oriented south and tilted at 90 degrees. Key stakeholders included KANT Architecter and Gaia Solar AS.
