Summary

Dun na Mo, Oirreas, also known as Doonamoe Point, is a coastal cliff section in Mayo, Ireland, featuring Doonamo Formation bedrock, metadolerite dykes, and Palaeocene dolerite dykes. The site exhibits pelite and psammite rocks with mineral fragments dated to 1,740 million years ago, and sedimentary structures suggesting shallow marine deposition 955 million years ago. Metadolerite rocks intruded into the psammites, and both were deformed during the Grampian Orogeny, with radiometric dating indicating deformation occurred 475 million years ago. Palaeocene dolerite dykes, related to the North Atlantic Ocean's opening, are also present. The site is significant for its varied-aged igneous rocks and is located in the Erris Head SAC, but access is limited due to its exposed coastal location.
