Summary

The study evaluated the physico-chemical parameters of groundwater in selected areas of Tuticorin District, Tamilnadu, India. Seven groundwater samples were collected and analyzed for parameters such as pH, TDS, chloride, total hardness, and alkalinity. The results showed that most of the parameters exceeded the permissible limits prescribed by WHO, making the groundwater unfit for drinking and domestic purposes. The high levels of TDS, chloride, and total hardness may cause health hazards such as gastrointestinal irritation, heart disease, and kidney stone formation. The study concludes that remedial measures must be taken to safeguard and conserve the precious water resources from pollution for future generations.
