Summary

Ferroptosis of tumour neutrophils causes immune suppression in cancer, according to a study by Rina Kim et al. published in Nature. The study found that ferroptosis, a type of iron-dependent cell death, induces immune suppression by promoting the production of immunosuppressive factors such as PGE2 and AA-PEox in tumour-associated neutrophils. The researchers used mouse models and human samples to demonstrate that ferroptosis is a key mechanism underlying the immune suppressive activity of tumour-associated neutrophils, and that inhibiting ferroptosis can enhance anti-tumour immunity.
