Summary

A 360-day field experiment was conducted to compare the effects of returning corn straw (CS) and fermented corn straw treated with Trichoderma reesei (FCS-T) on soil organic carbon (SOC) pools and humus composition. The results showed that FCS-T increased SOC content by 18.81%, while CS increased it by 12.71%, compared to the control treatment. FCS-T also promoted a significant increase in humic acid carbon, humin carbon, and easily oxidizable organic carbon, making it a more valuable method for increasing soil organic carbon content than direct application of corn straw.
