Au-Ag telluride-selenide deposits were the focus of a Field Workshop held in Espoo, Finland, from August 26-31, 2007. The workshop, part of the International Geoscience Project 486, aimed to study these mineralizations and their ore deposits, bridging the gap between laboratory and field research. Thirteen extended abstracts from 12 countries were presented, covering the mode of occurrence, ore mineralogy, structural geology, and geochemistry of Au-Ag deposits. Research included studies on the Musariu Au-Ag telluride ore in Romania, the Oya gold deposit in Japan, and the CLY Group gold prospect in Canada, using techniques such as melting experiments, LA-ICP-MS analysis, and fluid inclusion studies. Other topics covered included the geological setting and economic potential of various deposits, the characteristics of Bi-tellurides and sulphotellurides, and the analysis of trace Se and Te in arsenian pyrite from epithermal deposits. The workshop provided insights into the formation mechanisms and geological processes controlling Au-Ag telluride-selenide deposits, with implications for understanding and exploring these types of mineralizations worldwide.
