Summary

Neurobehavioral disorders are caused by neurological damage from environmental chemical exposure. The World Health Organization (WHO) introduced the Neurobehavioral Core Test Battery (NCTB) in the 1990s to detect nervous system damage using pen and paper methods. Researchers at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia developed a computerized neurobehavioral assessment tool called Neurobehavioral Risk Assessment and Evaluation System (NeuRAES 1.0). The study tested the preliminary validity of NeuRAES 1.0 among 40 university students and 15 industrial workers using three tests: Benton Visual Retention Test (BVRT), Trail Making Test (TMT), and Pursuit Aiming Test (PAT). Results showed strong correlation between conventional WHO-NCTB and computerized NeuRAES 1.0 methods for TMT and PAT, especially among industrial workers. The study recommends increasing sample size, using touch screen laptops, and reducing scoring bias for future improvements.
