Summary

Researchers at Okayama University have discovered a new blood biomarker for synovial sarcoma, a type of soft tissue cancer. The biomarker, monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT1), is highly expressed on the surface of exosomes secreted by synovial sarcoma cells. The study found that the amount of MCT1-positive exosomes in patient blood correlates with tumor quantity and responds to treatment. This discovery is expected to lead to the development of a new monitoring tool for synovial sarcoma treatment and may also provide a new target for therapy.
