Summary

The Super-LHC (SLHC) is a luminosity upgrade to the LHC, aiming to extend discovery sensitivity and pin down the theory beyond the Standard Model with a relatively modest investment. A Level-1 Track Trigger is proposed to retain the capability of triggering on objects at the electroweak scale in the harsh SLHC environment. The SLHC will have a peak luminosity of 2-3x10^34cm^-2s^-1 in Phase-I (~2014) and 10^35cm^-2s^-1 in Phase-II (~2018), with 25ns or 50ns bunch crossing and 200-400 proton collisions per bunch crossing. The ATLAS upgrade plan includes replacing the inner detector with an all-silicon tracker, upgrading the readout electronics, trigger system, and Level-1 Calo/Muon, with a Letter of Intent (LoI) due in April 2010 and a full proposal in 2010-2013.
