Summary

The Leyton Obsessional Inventory for Children (LOI-CV) is a 20-item self-report questionnaire assessing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms in children and adolescents. It was developed by Carol Zaremba Berg and colleagues, first published in 1988. The Norwegian version was translated by Knut Gundersen, Lars T. Jørgensen, and Luke Moynahan, and is available in the book "OCD in Children and Adolescents: A cognitive-behavioral treatment manual" by John S. March and Karen Mulle.

The original English version has shown good internal consistency (α=0.81 in normal population, α=0.79 in OCD patients) and test-retest reliability for ages 11-16 (r=0.75-0.83), but poor reliability for ages 8-10 (r=0.51). Factor analysis revealed four factors: general obsessions, contamination, magical obsessions, and school-related questions. Criterion validity studies showed mixed results, with some studies indicating poor diagnostic sensitivity.

A systematic literature review found no studies reporting psychometric properties of the Norwegian, Danish, or Swedish versions of LOI-CV. The authors recommend cautious use and interpretation of scores when using the Norwegian version.
