Summary

Researchers developed a microfluidic microsystem with a Giant Magneto-Impedance (GMI) wire sensor to detect magnetic nanoparticles in a liquid medium. The sensor consists of a CoFeSiBNb alloy microwire, 40 µm in diameter and 1 cm long, which detects changes in magneto-impedance signals induced by the magnetic dipole field of the nanoparticles. The system uses a microchannel to deliver magnetic particles to the sensor area and a lock-in amplifier to demodulate the voltage signal. The researchers demonstrated the detection of magnetic nanoparticles flowing in the microchannel, with the sensor successfully detecting the passage of the nanoparticles.
