Summary

Molybdenum Trioxide can affect you when breathed in, causing irritation to the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs, and may lead to weight loss, diarrhea, poor muscle coordination, headache, and muscle or joint aching. Repeated exposure can reduce red blood cell count, affect the liver and kidneys, and may cause bronchitis and anemia. Exposure limits are 5 mg/m3 (OSHA) and 0.5 mg/m3 (ACGIH) averaged over an 8-hour workshift. Reducing exposure can be achieved by enclosing operations, using local exhaust ventilation, wearing protective work clothing, and washing thoroughly after exposure. Medical testing, including lung function tests, complete blood count, and liver and kidney function tests, is recommended if symptoms develop or overexposure is suspected.
