MyPersonality.pdf

The myPersonality project utilizes online social networks for large-scale social research, collecting data from over 6 million Facebook users who completed personality and ability measures, with nearly half allowing anonymous recording of their Facebook profile information. The project provides freely available data to academic researchers, including records of online behavior, demographics, friendship networks, and psychometric measures. The myPersonality sample is more representative than traditional studies, with 63% female participants, an average age of 23.5 years, and 42% of respondents from outside the US, representing 44 countries with over 1000 respondents each. The project has been used to research various topics, including music personality, addictive substance use, and associations between personality and web browsing, with ongoing research programs on aggregate geographic personalities and the structure of Facebook Likes.
