Human health implications of organic food and organic agriculture are not conclusively established, but existing evidence suggests potential benefits. Organic food may reduce the risk of allergic disease and obesity, and consumers tend to have healthier dietary patterns. Restricted pesticide use in organic agriculture minimizes risks to children's cognitive development, especially during pregnancy and infancy. Organic crops have lower cadmium content and higher omega-3 fatty acid content compared to conventional products. The use of antibiotics in conventional animal production contributes to antibiotic resistance, while organic production practices may minimize this risk, benefiting public health.
