Summary

The prediction of Solar Cycle 25 is made using the polar magnetic field data, with a predicted size of 128±10 on the new sunspot number version 2 scale, slightly larger than the previous cycle. The method used is based on the idea that the magnetic field in the polar regions near solar minimum serves as a precursor for the evolution and amplitude of the following solar cycle. The polar magnetic field data from Wilcox Solar Observatory is used to predict the size of the new cycle, with the average polar fields during the three-year interval preceding solar minimum used as the precursor value. The predicted size of Solar Cycle 25 is based on the polar field precursor method, which has been used to successfully predict the size of the last four cycles.
