Summary

Researchers studied the mechanical behavior of multi-phase 800 high yield strength steel (MP800HY) and complex-phase 800 steel (CP800) under tensile loads at various strain rates (0.001 s−1 to 750 s−1). Quasi-static tests were performed at room temperature (20 °C) and high temperature (200 °C) to investigate thermal softening behavior. The results showed that the flow stresses of both materials decreased at 200 °C. The dynamic increase factor (DIF) for yield stress and ultimate tensile strength was compared, and the reduction in area was found to be more in MP800HY than in CP800 at each strain rate. The Johnson-Cook model was used to predict the flow stress, and the predicted results were compared with experimental data.
