Summary

The Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF developed a mechanical integration concept for a prism-grating-prism-assembly for the CO2M mission. The design uses kinematic mounting of optical elements with Titanium bipods and Invar pins, and includes ultra-light and blackened covers to suppress stray light. Thermo-mechanical simulations verified the stability of the design under operational, launch, and test conditions, showing it can withstand relevant mechanical and thermal loads.
