Summary

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized using an aqueous root extract of Salvadora persica as a reducing agent, providing a quicker, simpler, and environmentally benign process. The synthesized AgNPs showed significant antimicrobial efficacy against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus epidermidis, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 0.39 µg/mL and 0.19 µg/mL, respectively. The AgNPs were characterized using various techniques, including UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), revealing a spherical and rod-shaped morphology with an average size of 37.5 nm. The study demonstrates the potential of AgNPs synthesized using Salvadora persica for various antimicrobial applications, including wound healing, water purification, and air filtering.
