Summary

SARS-CoV-2 is highly stable at 4°C, but sensitive to heat, with a 0.7-log unit reduction of infectious titre on Day 14 at 4°C, and inactivation in 5 minutes at 70°C. The virus is more stable on smooth surfaces, with no infectious virus detected on glass and banknotes on Day 4, and on stainless steel and plastic on Day 7. A significant level of infectious virus was still detected on the outer layer of a surgical mask on Day 7. The virus is susceptible to standard disinfection methods, with no infectious virus detected after a 5-minute incubation with most disinfectants. SARS-CoV-2 is also stable in a wide range of pH values at room temperature.
