Summary

The Sedimentary Geology Division (SGD) of the Geological Society of America (GSA) had 1478 members in 2017, down from 1736 in 2016. The division sponsored 104 topical sessions at the 2017 GSA Annual Meeting in Seattle, including a student poster session with 46 presenters. The 2017 Laurence L. Sloss Award was given to Dr. Isabel Montañez, and the SGD Student Research Grant Award was given to Edward Matheson. The division is planning for the 2018 GSA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis and the 2020 International Sedimentary Geology Congress in Flagstaff, Arizona. New officers for 2018 include Chair Gary Gianniny, Vice Chair Amy Weislogel, and Student Representative Angela Delaloye. The division is also seeking a new Secretary Treasurer and JTPC representative.
