Summary

A statistical study of the UV Mg II resonance lines' parameters in 20 Be stars was conducted. The Mg II resonance lines have a multicomponent nature, with absorption components shifted to the violet or red side of the main spectral line, known as Discrete Absorption Components (DACs) or Satellite Absorption Components (SACs). The study analyzed the UV Mg II λλ 2795.523, 2802.698 Å resonance lines in the spectra of 20 Be stars of different spectral subtypes, taken with IUE. The results show that the best fit for the Mg II doublet was obtained with one or two SACs. The study calculated physical parameters such as rotational velocities, radial velocities, random velocities, Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM), and absorbed energy for the independent density regions of matter that create the satellite components. The values of the rotational velocities are between 5 and 40 km/s, radial velocities between 50 and 150 km/s, and random velocities between 10 and 40 km/s. The variation of Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) and absorbed energy is similar, and the study presents the relations between these physical parameters and the effective temperature of the studied stars.
