The Pomme de Terre River Association (PDTRA) is a voluntary, grant-funded organization dedicated to restoring and protecting the Pomme de Terre Watershed in West Central Minnesota. Founded in 1981, PDTRA partners with local counties, Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD), and state agencies to promote conservation through design work, construction, and funding for Best Management Practices (BMPs). In 2018, PDTRA implemented various projects, including 2 Ag Waste Pit Closures, 8 Water and Sediment Control Basins, 1050 ft. Stream Restoration, and 1.9 Acre Wetland Restoration, reducing non-point source runoff of phosphorus and sediment. PDTRA also conducted watershed education events, including River Runs and Water Fest, and developed a Prioritize, Target, and Measure Application (PTMApp) to guide future conservation efforts. The organization relies on competitive and noncompetitive grants from state and federal programs, having received over $2 million in Clean Water Funds since 2011, with an additional $500,000 approved in 2018.
