The Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (MVLWB) approved an amendment to Water Licence MV2013L1-0003 on October 18, 2018. The amendment was requested by Paramount Resources Ltd. on June 14, 2018, and allows for an increase in the allowable quality of water from 100m3/day to 299m3/day. As a result, the water use fees have increased. The Licence is effective from November 14, 2013, to November 13, 2020, and is subject to the conditions outlined in the Licence. The Licence permits Paramount Resources Ltd. to use water and dispose of waste for industrial undertakings associated with natural gas facilities in the Northwest Territories. The Licence includes conditions related to the taking of water and the depositing of waste, and requires compliance with applicable federal, territorial, and municipal legislation. The Licence also defines various terms and conditions, including "Act", "Analyst", "Artesian Aquifer", and "Drill Waste". The MVLWB has filed a copy of the Licence on the Public Registry and has attached a water use fee calculator to the Licence. Paramount Resources Ltd. is required to pay water use fees annually on or before November 14 of each year, and the current fee for the period of November 14, 2018, through to November 13, 2019, is $1,091.35.
