The study evaluated the efficiency of 10 water supply stations in Najaf Governorate, Iraq, by analyzing 9 variables of water quality, including pH, turbidity, calcium, magnesium, total dissolved solids, sulfates, total hardness, chloride, and alkalinity. The results showed that most physical and chemical factors decreased after treatment, while raw water variables increased, especially total hardness, during hot months. Most factors were within the limits of the Iraqi standard for drinking water, except for turbidity, dissolved salts, and total hardness, which exceeded specifications in some months. The Water Quality Index (WQI) results indicated that all stations had "good water" according to Bhaven's classification, except for the New Mashkhab station, which had "excellent water". The study aimed to assess the environmental reality of drinking water in Najaf Governorate and evaluate the efficiency of water supply stations. The WQI method used in this study is a scientific approach to assess water quality, taking into account multiple variables and their integrated impact on water quality. The results can be used to classify water quality and determine its suitability for human consumption.
