Die Studie "Habitatmodellierung und Abschätzung der potenziellen Anzahl von Wolfsterritorien in Deutschland" liefert Informationen für das Wolfsmanagement und zeigt, dass Deutschland ein Verbreitungspotential für Wölfe besitzt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass mit durchziehenden Wölfen in ganz Deutschland gerechnet werden muss und dass die Förderung und Umsetzung von Herdenschutzmaßnahmen wichtig sind, um Übergriffe auf Nutztiere zu verhindern. Die Studie schätzt das Potential für etwa 700 bis 1.400 Wolfsterritorien in Deutschland und empfiehlt, Herdenschutzmaßnahmen auch in Gebieten umzusetzen, in denen sich bislang noch keine Wölfe etabliert haben.
