Summary

Research on the exploration and total synthesis of natural compounds with unique structures and biological activities was conducted to develop new lead compounds for agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. The research resulted in the isolation and structure elucidation of several novel terpenoids and polyketides from plants, as well as the total or partial synthesis of biologically active natural products such as antibiotics, marine natural products, and herbal products. A compound synthesized for the development of a new anti-influenza agent was found to be effective against the sialidase of Tamiflu-resistant strains.
