Summary

Detection of moving objects in video sequences from moving video sensors is a crucial problem in computer vision. This work develops a set of algorithms for real-time detection and tracking of moving objects, including estimation and compensation of geometric transformations, detection of moving objects, and tracking and prediction of object positions. The algorithms are designed for onboard vision systems with limited resources and can operate with minimal prior information. The set of algorithms consists of three main parts: geometric transformation estimation and compensation using phase correlation, moving object detection using a background estimation model, and object tracking and prediction. The approach has subpixel precision, acceptable computational complexity, and can handle various atmospheric phenomena and occlusions.
