A decentralized application (dapp) study analyzed 734 dapps and 2,740 smart contracts, finding that dapp popularity follows the Pareto principle, with a few dapps having substantial popularity. Open-source smart contract codes influence dapp popularity, and code-level reuse is common in dapps. The study also explored how developers can transfer traditional apps to dapps, finding that smart contracts are usually used to hold token-related data and that only a few operations can be transferred to smart contracts.
